About the awards
Schools may nominate teachers, and teachers may nominate themselves. Applicants must currently teach or instruct in an eligible institution in Enugu State.
Early Childhood, Basic Education, Senior Secondary and TVET awards have separate Public Schools and Private/Mission Schools streams. The Distinguished CELI Mentor Award is statewide.
An independent panel assesses eligible entries against published criteria. Panel members declare conflicts of interest, and the panel may withhold a prize if no entry meets the standard.
Awards are funded through sponsorship and institutional support so that no teacher pays to enter. Sponsorship gives no role in judging or selecting winners.
How it works
Every nominee receives a personal email invitation to consent, register and build a professional profile. Shortlisted teachers then move to Stage 2: they plan one lesson from the NERDC 2026 curriculum, record themselves teaching it, and receive an AI lesson observation that the independent panel reviews.
A school leader nominates a teacher, or a teacher self-nominates, in under three minutes.
The nominee receives a secure email link, consents to the nomination and creates an account.
Professional details, a 500-word statement, plans, learner work, progress evidence and verification.
An independent panel scores entries on quality, development, innovation, inclusion and credibility.
Shortlisted teachers choose a NERDC topic, plan and record a lesson, and receive an AI observation the panel reviews.
Full award list
Public Schools and Private/Mission Schools entries are judged separately in Tiers 1–4. The evidence listed is required in addition to the general entry profile.
Additional evidence: A play-based learning sequence; evidence of social and emotional learning; and an account of adaptations for children with different learning needs.
